The world’s resources,
knowledge, technology and medical advances are unmatched
by any time in our history. However, a vast segment of
the world’s population continues to be excluded from
these benefits, lacking the access to finance, markets,
and social protection that will allow them to step out
of poverty and fulfill their potential. EA Consultants
was born out of a commitment to improving the well being
and livelihood of the world’s poor by providing
high-quality, responsive and innovative advisory
services to public, multinational and private sector
development initiatives world wide. By bringing together
current and former professionals from the financial
markets, business, government, and international
development fields, we ensure that our work is
pragmatic, sustainable and integrated into the current
global business environment.

Today's global financial crisis
will have unprecedented effects on the world's poor, and
will inevitably effect the microfinance industry.
EA Consultants has been commissioned by USAID to examine
the current and potential effects of the global crisis
on the microfinance industry, identifying some of the
main pressure points and providing strategic
recommendations on how industry stakeholders can
cushion the effect of the crisis.
EA Consultants completed work with
Nicaragua's Banex-formerly Findesa-, which recently obtained its license to
be a full fledged bank, involving
strategic recommendations to its 5-year institutional strategic
plan. We have also initiated
work with another Nicaraguan bank, Banco de Finanzas
(BDF). This project involves supporting the institution
in its downscaling into the SME sector as well as
entering the low income housing market. Currently, BDF
ranks fourth among private banks in terms of total loans
and assets and boasts the largest housing
portfolio inNicaragua
with 38% of market share.
EA Consultants is collaborating on
a 26-month, Small and Medium
Enterprise (SME) Finance Project inMexico financed by the
IFC . Through this project, IFC seeks to expand the
sources of financial support for NBFIs by improving
their asset quality, providing direct funding and
generating a demonstration effect to other multilateral
agencies.
EA Consultants, is managing a
2-year research grant from the Global Development Network
(GDN) to support
a randomized evaluation of
Nicaragua
